A place you don’t expect — and won’t forget. ​A walk through peaceful landscapes, with open views of the sea and small traditional villages, far from the usual paths. Step by step, the path leads you to something hidden. The cave of Saint John the Hermit. Inside, a small chapel dating back to the 15th century and the remains of old monastic cells reveal a place shaped by centuries of quiet presence — vast, still, and unlike anything you imagined. We start in Spilia, following quiet paths through nature and towards the small village of Nochia. Along the way, we pass olive groves and open landscapes, with beautiful views of the sea. Before reaching Nochia, we stop at a small rural church for a short break and a simple picnic. We then continue through the village, where life still feels simple and unchanged. From here, the walk gently loops back through peaceful surroundings, with more and more views opening up along the way. Before reaching the monastery, we pass a small memorial dedicated to the heroes of Spilia — a quiet place that tells part of the region’s story. Then, the path leads us to something hidden. A monastery inside a cave. At first, it feels almost invisible — then suddenly, it opens up into a surprisingly large space carved into the rock. Quiet, atmospheric, and shaped by time, it was once even used as a school. We take our time here. To explore. To rest. To experience the place. Before heading back to Spilia, we share a moment of rest in this unique setting. This is not about hiking fast.
