Where every step widens the horizon.

As the path slowly rises, Chania and Souda Bay unfold below. With every turn, the view expands. On clear days, your gaze travels across the Cretan Sea almost to Balos — islands, mountains and endless blue merging into one breathtaking panorama.
At the highest point, there is that deep, quiet pride: you made it.
The descent is pure enjoyment — almost the entire way accompanied by sea, light and open horizon.

It is a walk where the view is not just a highlight — it is your constant companion.
The route begins with a steady uphill walk that immediately sets the tone. This is a more demanding walk than Nerokouro — longer uphill, steeper in parts, yet deeply rewarding.
For nearly an hour we continue upward at a calm and natural pace. We never rush.
The rhythm of the walk allows for regular pauses, giving space for breath and perspective. Along the way, we pass small rural chapels — simple, quiet places where we can set down our backpacks, rest for a moment and truly take in the view instead of just passing through it..

The area is alive with sheep and goats grazing freely across the hillsides - this landscape feels unmistakably rural Cretan. As we reach the highest point, the landscape opens wide beneath us — Chania, Souda Bay and the Cretan Sea stretching far into the distance, almost reaching Balos on clear days. The height brings space, light and a powerful sense of perspective.
The descent continues with the same openness, offering uninterrupted views and wonderful opportunities for photographs. Along the way, we pass old stone bridges and traces of historic water channels, quietly reclaimed by nature.
Although the walk includes a longer uphill section, we take our time and pause whenever needed, making it achievable for anyone with a regular level of fitness — and absolutely worth the effort
